Paintings by Richard Graham

Abstract painting, as it moves away from realism, pulls the viewer into a decision making process. My paintings try to use the classic elements of figure and landscape to create indecision. In the process they become much more interactive. When familiar images are used as a point of departure, it brings certain stresses into play. Composition, boundaries, colors, and emotions all become filled with ambiguities  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
